Haiti's fate is in the hands of the world

What's on my mind this morning, and just about every morning before this one? Haiti, and the horrible catastrophe that occurred. Please keep this poor nation in your prayers and thoughts and think how else one can extend a hand. This is not something that will be over in a week, once the media coverage subsides. This is something that will last a very long time. There will be scars left on the little children who have been orphaned, not to mention thepain from parents that may have lost their children. I could go on and on about the horrors, but you already know what is going on. It's in our faces everyday when we read the paper or watch the news. It's up to each and every one of us to take a stand and go beyond what we are used to doing, to reach out and help in any way we can.

Our very, very poor neighbors in the Caribbean always seem to be stricken with so much tragedy. Perhaps it is fate, or bad luck, who cares "what it is" and why waste time analyzing "why". It's time to act and forget the rhetoric, skip the red tape, get out and do something, anything is better than ignoring what's in our face.

I hope this weekend is a good weekend for all of you and that helping the less fortunate will be on everyone's mind. Please try and set aside a moment this weekend in silent meditation, look at where you are and what you are doing and picture yourself in a street lined with corpses and the smell of death and no way out. Thank God for your blessings and send Haiti your loving and healing energies.

Haiti you are on mind and in my heart. May God watch over you.
